The big bad rapist |
THE MOVIE: CRITIC'S TAKEEveryone has heard the story about the big bad wolf. This movie isn't about that but it's another take on the werewolf genre. This movie has been getting around indie town for quite sometime now... actually it's been moving around for more than 5 years with no sign of it picking up speed. I figured I'll give it a view sense most people enjoyed the film. I was impressed with most of the story and must say it's not your average B movie. I would recommand it to anyone who likes comic horror.
STORY
Derek, played by Trevor Duke-Moretz, is having a hard time dealing with the loss of his father. His stepdad Mitchel, played Richard Tyson, is a real hard ass of the abusive kind. Derek's friends are using him to get a hold of his dad's cabin. They are looking to have a fun time with popping cherries and lots of beer. He agrees to steal the keys if his good but angry friend Sam, played by Kimberly J. Brown, tags along.
Whores R Us |
Once there their tempers start to fly. Each has their own personality and it’s not mixing. The couples decide to go and do some hanky panky in the bedrooms and outside in the woods. This wasn’t a very good idea because the big bad wolf was able to smell their scent and the girl’s virginity. The wolf violently kills most of his friends and rapes the virgin one. That is one nasty way to lose your virginity.
I should have lost it to him when I had the chance! Awwwwwwww |
White trash much? |
ACTING
The acting here was average at best. The chemistry was so-so but the mother was the worst. I couldn’t stand the actress and I was hoping that she would get it soon so her horrible performance would be over. I couldn’t buy Sam as the bad girl. She seemed more like trailer park trash than anything else. That doesn’t mean she was bad in this film. When she wasn’t acting tough her acting ability shined through. The best actor in this film was Richard. He played the horny jackass very well and was quite ruthless. Definitely not the usually big bad wolf.

SPECIAL EFFECTS
The effects here were as gory as they come. In some scenes you can tell that some of it was fake but I had to remember that it’s a low budget film. Still if you didn’t have the money to do it properly then it shouldn’t have been done. The wolf didn’t look terrifying at all. You can tell it was a man in a body suit. Given their budget, however, they did what they could and most of it looked decent enough so kudos to them.
Not bad |
The film was written and directed by Lance W. Dreesen. Lance did a good job with directing. For a B movie he made a very watchable film. With more money he would have made headlines. His writing was good too but I couldn't help but get bored after his friends are killed. The story seemed to drag and I was going to lose interest but it quickly picked up again. Consistency is a must in film writing and this was his only down fall.
THE END
The movie overall is something to watch. It did bring something new to the wolf man genre. The kills are a must see and are gruesome to watch. I loved how he played games with his victims and not just killed them. I was impressed by this film and was left with some shock. Raping a beautiful virgin? Now that’s just wrong on so many levels!
