THE HANGOVER PART 2

Did they really need a sequel?

THE MOVIE: CRITIC'S TAKE

Wow! Who would have thought that this would turn into a trilogy? The first movie was funny, outrageous, unpredictable, and dare I say a masterpiece. When part two was announced and hit filming every man who has ever been black out drunk jumped for joy. Men even took a day off with buddies just to see the film before the holiday. With so much hype you would think this movie would live up to expectations. It did but you have to walk in expecting to see a sequel about drunken stupidity not an original script. Other wise you just may want to skip this and watch the first one. It's a carbon copy... only better.

STORY

Stu, played by Ed Helms, is getting married... again! This time it's to a beautiful woman named Lauren, played by Jamie Chung. Her father doesn't approve of this marriage because he thinks Stu is not good for his daughter. What father wouldn't feel this way if his little angel is going to marry a dentist. Stu does everything he can to make her happy, even taking the wedding to Tailand which makes his friend Phil, played by Bradley Cooper, uneasy. He thinks that's it stupid to fly that far for a wedding and I can't blame him. Like true friends they all agree to attend the wedding if Stu can do one thing... invite Alan, played by Zach Galifianakis. Stu was not happy.

Not again!

After some strong convincing Stu agreed to let Alan attend. Alan was all thrilled that the wolfpac was back together again until Lauren's little brother enters the picture. Alan becomes defensive and tries to one up the young man at every corner. All he does is embarrass himself. They all go out to a bro get together with beer and marshmallows to forget all about stu's butchering ceremony. Everything seems fine until they wake up not on the beach but a run down hotel with Mr. Chow, played by Ken Jeong, in Bangkok! Deja Vu anyone?

Wolfpac

When they wake up they suddenly realize they are missing Stu's wife's brother and that Stu has a tattoo on his face. After Chow awakes he sniffs some crack to get himself together only to fall flat on the table... dead! Now the three stooges have no clue where to start looking for the young man and find out why his finger is missing. Luckily a little monkey helped show them the way. This takes them on a wild adventure that will change their lives forever especially Stu. He seems to love taking it up the XXX.

Cheese
Their adventure leads them back to where it all started. They find that Chow is alive and he is able to help them retrieve the boy. There's one problem. Chow is a wanted men and everyone is out to kill him. With Chow in toe they engage in an even more crazy and dangerous adventure that almost gets them killed. Were the three stooges able to get the young boy back and keep themselves alive long enough for the royal wedding? Of course because then there wouldn't be a third one coming but hey it's how that counts and you need to see it to believe it.

ACTING

The acting here was great. Everyone interacted well and you can feel the chemistry. I didn't like the pairing of Stu and Chung because let's face it. Can you see those two really getting married? Didn't think so! Bradley Cooper is great in this. I think these are his type of roles that he should play. I don't buy his other performances because those seem forced. Comedy seems to be his strong point and he needs to stick with that for now. I was annoyed by Zach's character this time around. He was too much of a jerk for me to feel sorry for or like his character. Overall the cast did fine but I don't understand why they changed a character around so much. If it's not broken then don't fix it.

I love monkeys

SPECIAL EFFECTS

Well we all know where the extra money went with this film. The explosions and car chases were nicely done. It wasn't needed and added nothing to the story other than some cheap laughs. Did we really need a gun and chase fight in this type of film? They should have spent it on more cameos than special effects. None the less it was decent.

This is some shit
DIRECTING AND WRITING

The movie was directed by Todd Philips and written by Craig Mazin and Scot Armstrong. The directing was good. The shots are wide and plentiful with clarity to boot. The writing and story structure is what I have a problem with. I saw the same movie twice. Don't get me wrong. This movie is better than the first it's just I felt like I was watching an upgrade to a video game instead of a continuing story. I don't mind this but I can see why other people do. The writers need to get fresh and put more creative ideas out there before the fans get hip. It's a great upgrade from the first one just try not to get too confused. They are two different films no matter how similar they are.

Let's do it again

THE END

A must see for all that knows how it feels to act stupid and not remember it. For those who aren't into crude humor than stay away. You might vomit. Those pictures are far worse than the last time. Enjoy!!!
